The 20th edition of the Fab Lab Conference & Symposium, FAB24, is a global event that brings together creative, innovative, and passionate minds from the fields of digital fabrication and technology. Members from over 2,700 Fab Labs around the world gather to share, discuss, collaborate, and create communities around the different local and global interests related to advanced manufacturing, innovation, and technology.

Since 2005, we have been committed to the power of networking through annual meetings that bring together an average of 1,200 participants from over 55 different countries for a week of exciting discussions and activities around the latest trends in technology.

At FAB24, we will bring together people from diverse disciplines and cultures to explore how digital fabrication, 3D printing, robotics, and other technologies can shape our future. It's a place where collaboration and creativity merge to drive change and innovation. Anyone with an open mind and a cooperative spirit is welcome to attend!

The Fab México Challenge will be held in multiple locations around the country July 27-August 3.

Fab Festival México (free and open to the public) will take place in Puebla August 3 & 4.

The FAB24 México Conference and Symposium will take place in Puebla August 5-9.

The main event venue for FAB24 México is the Institute of Design and Technological Innovation (IDIT) within the Iberoamerican University of Puebla, where the largest Fab Lab in the world is located.

However, in order to include the rest of the community in the event, there are Challenges that will take place in different parts of the state and the country.

To participate in the challenge you need to apply through the application form before the 18th of February. Applying to the challenge does NOT guarantee your participation. The challenge has a maximum capacity of participants. After the applications close the Fab City challenge team will curate the challenge teams with the local hosts. On March 1st the curated teams will be announced. If you are selected to participate you have two weeks (until March 15th) to buy a FAB24 ticket if you didn’t already and buy a challenge ticket. The link to buy the challenge ticket will be provided after you are selected. Finally, you are asked to sign a waiver, after which your participation to the challenge is confirmed.

If you are not selected you are automatically put on the waiting list. If within the next two weeks a selected participant fails to confirm their participation someone from the waiting list will be selected and contacted to participate.

Planning and coordinating an international conference with thousands of attendees and the top digital fabrication experts in the world costs money. Registration fees help offset the costs associated with organizing and hosting an event of this scale. We surveyed similar conferences, and our registration fees are relatively modest compared with other large international conferences for the level of programming on offer.

• Travel from the starting location in Puebla or Cancun on the 27th of July to the respective challenge locations and back to the main venue in Puebla on the 2nd of August for the showcase.
• Any scheduled travel during the challenge like the daily commute and organized field trips
• Hotel accommodation in Puebla and at the respective challenge locations from the 26th of July until the 3rd of August.
• Three meals each day of the challenge, as organized by the hosting organizations.

*Participants are responsible for arranging their own stay beyond the challenge during the FAB24 event.

The registration is valid for one person and cannot be transferred. As a registered participant, you may attend all sessions that interest you. Any additional participants who may be planning to join, such as partners, spouses, or other family members, must also purchase a FABx event ticket.

Yes. FAB24 México (Challenge, Symposiums, Talks, Workshops) is designed as a streamlined experience to take you through the contexts, tools, and collaborative mindsets that support the integration and application of these to real-world issues. You are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish. We encourage you to make the most of this unique opportunity!

The following policy covers FAB24 México. Please carefully review the following when booking your registration for the event. By registering to attend the FAB24 México event, you agree to the following:

Tickets
Your registration is not complete until full payment is received. All tickets are valid for the named attendee only and cannot be transferred.

1. In-Person event
   If you must cancel your registration, please submit a written notice to fabevents[at]fabfundation.org. Please include the ticket identification number listed on the order confirmation email as well as your .pdf ticket .
   If we receive a valid cancellation request, we will process it as below:

• Up to 30 days before the event, 100% of the ticket cost will be refunded. Ticket platform fees are not refundable.
• Up to 15 days before the event, 50% of the ticket cost will be refunded. Ticket platform fees are not refundable.
• Within two (2) weeks of the event, ALL ticket costs AND ticket platform fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.

After July 19, 2024, no refunds will be issued.

For All Events
This policy applies to all circumstances, including any reason related to COVID-19, such as transportation disruptions or cancellations, border closures, declined travel visas, illness, travel or health advisories, or quarantines. COVID-19 and its consequences are still a part of this policy.

All participants acknowledge that changes in itinerary, location, content, host or other arrangements may happen with little or no notice before the event date in response to reasons including but not limited to: weather events, security events, closed borders, public health concerns, or host or team sickness or injury. The Fab Foundation, the national host, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Bits and Atoms, and the Fab City Foundation reserve the right to make alternate arrangements at any time. We will make every attempt to be transparent and consult with event participants.

It may be necessary to cancel an event at FABx for reasons beyond our reasonable control. If a FABx event must be canceled (other than supplementary expeditions or activities), we will offer you the choice of either: (a) a refund for the paid amount minus a 6% transaction fee, or (b) a donation to the Fab Foundation for the total paid amount

In such cases, the Fab Foundation is liable for refunding the fees according to the policy above for the affected event. The event partners shall not be liable for any costs or losses resulting from changes or cancellations as a result of events outside our reasonable control.

We reserve the right to return the payment and refuse acceptance of a booking for any participant, at any time, for any reason, at no penalty to the event partners.

Once approved, any refunds will be issued within 30 days of receipt of the cancellation notice to your original payment method. Refunds usually appear within 3 – 5 days.

The requirements for a foreigner to enter Mexico may vary depending on the nationality of the visitor. However, most foreign nationals will need a valid passport and, in some cases, a visa. Here is some general information:

Passport:
It is necessary for the visitor to have a valid passport. The validity of the passport may vary according to nationality.

Visa:
Many countries do not require a visa for short tourist stays. Mexico has visa exemption agreements with several countries. However, some countries do require a visa before traveling to Mexico.

Tourist Card (Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM):
In lieu of a visa, visitors from some countries may need to obtain a Tourist Card, also known as a Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM). This card allows visitors to stay in Mexico for a limited period of time for tourist purposes.

Return Ticket or Proof of Continued Travel:
In some cases, a return ticket or proof that the visitor plans to leave the country at the end of his or her stay may be required.

Additional Documentation:
Depending on the purpose of travel, additional documentation may be required. For example, for those planning to study or work in Mexico, specific permits may be required.

COVID-19 Specific Restrictions and Requirements:

By Highway:

From Mexico City (CDMX):

From Mexico City the easiest way to get to Puebla is by bus. It can be taken directly inside Mexico City's international airport or from the Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oriente (TAPO). Buses are first class and can arrive at the Central Camionera de Puebla (CAPU) in the downtown area or at Paseo Destino ("Terrapuerto") near the Fab24 event venue.

By car, the Mexico-Puebla highway (MEX-150D), which is a toll road and one of the most common routes. The distance is approximately 130 km (80 miles) and travel time may vary depending on traffic, but is usually about 2 hours.

From Veracruz:
By the Veracruz-Puebla highway (MEX-150), which is another important option if you are coming from the coast.

From Oaxaca:
By the Oaxaca-Puebla highway (MEX-135), if you are in the southern region.

By Plane:

Puebla Hermanos Serdán International Airport (PBC):
Puebla has its own airport, called Hermanos Serdán International Airport. If you are flying from other parts of Mexico or from abroad, you can fly directly to this airport.

Mexico City Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX): (YES, Like our Beno)
You can also fly into Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and then take a bus or drive to Puebla.

Cancún International airport (CUN):
You can fly to Cancún and then, after a few days in the beach, take a direct flight to Puebla
